about 2 years since i last heard this song, still sounds like it used to, damn tyson would never even admit that his music was great, , I mean yeh, it sucks when one of Canada’s greatest just is not recording any more!
Ian one of the most awesome song writers who has never got the recognition he deserved but I’m not sure he wanted it. He seems happier cowboy’en. I was lucky enough to see him perform outdoors at a real cowboy event in B.C. Ian’s show was on of the best I have ever seen and I’ve witnessed a lot of live performances in my life.
Well krabbyappleton along w/ all the other behaviors, as the drunk queer you live, you seem to think you can read minds too, so have a GO at it, but PLEASE GO straight to HELL after you choke to death from those black tar lungs!
I heard Ian in Elko in 2008 at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, it was incredible (I was able to get in, even though I didn’t have a ticket becasue I was in my navy uniform, since I was recruiting out of there).. one of my favorite singers..
Jerry Jeff Walker cover – what kind of nonsense is that??? It’s Ian’s song, all the way. People who think they know music always make comments like that, and they are always wrong.
Cowboyography, as mentioned above, is one of the most iconic albums of all time, in a perfect world it would have finished in the Top 10 of the year it was released. Ian and Tom Russell wrote it, Tom does an OK version on Poor Man’s Dream, but Ian owns it.
Ian is a true Canadian ICON. His music is all to his own. A must difficult person to mimic. He has many good songs. My favourite album is Cowboyography followed closely with “Old Correls and Sagebrush”.
Up until July 27th of 09 there was a great Classic Country music station In Halifax, 780 KIXX. They played this song everyday at some point. Brings back great memories.
ian tyson lives about 20 minutes drive south of my place in okotoks alberta, i have never had the honor to meet him myself but i plan on going to his concert soon
one of my favorite songs.

Great song. I have loved Tom Russell for years, but I have to say I like this version much better.
Great song…Mr. Walker did an EXCELLENT cover himself. Whenever I hear this song it stirs up something inside of me I can’t quite explain.

This song brings me back to when I was little, driving to go skiing with my Dad. I can’t believe he broke his voice, he’ll never sound like this again
